Alphabet Play: C is for Candy

I found an amazing way to engage children in their alphabet - use materials they are INTERESTED in :) C is for Candy was a big hit! Our friends at Chapters in Ancaster helped us find this great book "My Candy Castle" from our partners at Scholastic Canada and after we created our Candy Craft the children had tons of fun going through the story and hearing about all the special candy themed hiding places that the princesses have found.
It was such an easy craft for a busy mama to prepare. Just cut out a giant C and glue it onto a candy coloured background.
Honestly I have so much candy hiding in my house that I have collected from Halloween and various holidays that it was easy to fill a container with all sorts of coloured candy gems. If you're like me and you don't want your kids to eat it all this is a great way to make use of it.
A beautiful and very delicious letter C - one that I would be very proud to hang on my fridge.
Look at this very proud crafter. Thanks No Time for Flashcards for the awesome literacy craft idea.

Please join us next week as the momstown mamas meet at Chapters in Ancaster to explore the letters and sounds of the alphabet. We meet each week at 10:30 in the children's section.
