Bringing the News to You: Laura Babcock, In My Opinion

Do you know what’s happening in Hamilton? Are you up on your local current events, issues or news items? I know I’m not. I think most moms can relate to the time deficit that I suffer from. Yes, would love to watch the news – however, the process of ungluing my sleep deprived eyes, having a coffee and getting breakfast on the table is so much more easily accomplished if the TV is on CBCKids rather than on the morning news.

I guess there's always the newspaper… yeah, right. As much as I love the idea, if can possibly find a ½ hour (or 5 minutes) to do some reading, I promise you it will be to indulge in my favourite magazine, or to actually read a novel, sigh… it’s been too long since I could while away a few hours lost in the pages of a good book. Sorry, Hamilton, as much as I love being a citizen here my time, attention and energy is so consumed that I will choose to spend those precious minutes, or nap times on personal indulgences… like chatting on my favourite website, momstown :)

Ok moms, we know you want to know what is happening around town. You need to know issues that are important – there might even be an issue that you care about so passionately that you want to get involved and make a difference. Unfortunately, if you don’t know what’s happening then those things will pass you by and you’ll lose that chance.

This is why, I’m so pleased to announce, that Laura Babcock, a blogger and local opinionator from Cable 14’s The “O” Show, will be hosting a news & issues thread on our message board each Friday. In this thread, entitled “In My Opinion,” Laura will share with you items of interest that have come up throughout the week that, in her opinion are issues, news and events that mothers need to know and care about. Laura herself is a mom to 2 small children so can relate to our schedules, shares the mom perspective and cares about the same things we do. This will be a thread for us to talk about, discuss and debate the issues that Laura presents until the following week when she gives us the next week’s exciting news.

If you have an opinion on the items that she shares we encourage you to jump in and participate. Laura just might share your opinion on the show!
